Well-being

WELLBEING

This means being comfortable, happy and healthy.

These are strange times we're in at the moment and, more than ever, it is important to look after ourselves and our wellbeing. Whether you are learning from home or one of the children still attending school, everything is very different at the moment. You are probably missing your friends and the normal school routine. There may be family members you have not been able to see for a while. Our movements are limited, plans have been cancelled and you may even have had a Lockdown birthday! Perhaps you might also be enjoying this time: maybe you are spending more time with your family or enjoying the extra time to work on hobbies and play. We are all feeling a real mix of emotions at the moment - children and adults alike.

Whatever you are feeling, you should know that it is ok to feel that way! We are all in a little bit of a muddle at the moment and that's ok. The best thing you can do to help your wellbeing at the moment is to be kind to yourself, recognise your feelings and share them with a trusted adult if you feel able to.

Please find some resources below to help your wellbeing at this time.

If you have not seen it already, you might want to watch this short video explaining about Coronavirus and how it affects us.

The following activities are from Partnership for Children.

  • They take around ten minutes each and can be downloaded or done with pen and paper.
  • They cover the following themes: Feelings, staying connected, dealing with change, getting along, dealing with worries and relaxing.
  • They are designed for children five and up.
  • They include instructions for adults to complete the activities with children, though many can be done independently.

One of the BEST ways to help your mental health is by staying active. Exercise releases chemicals in your brain whose job it is to make you feel happy - so moving your body can really change how you're feeling.

If you haven't yet, try one of the PE with Joe home workouts on Youtube.

Or, even better, get outside and walk, bike, run, bounce, skip, hop, chase, throw, catch....you get the idea!

The Book of Hope.

This wonderful free book is a collection of short stories, poems and pictures by authors such as Anthony Horowitz, Michael Morpurgo, Axel Scheffler and Jacqueline Wilson. It's lovely to dip into.
